I got up at 4:30 this morning. Not entirely sure why, but I felt kind of excited about my day. I tried to go back to sleep but my mind was just reminding me of the good day I was going to have and I gave up after only about 10 minutes.
So, as I was sitting down relaxing with a nice hot cup of coffee this morning I looked down and there was a spider on my leg. He was just hanging out on my thigh minding his own business. At least I had pants on so he didn’t tickle me and scare the heck out of me. I am not overly afraid of spiders (except for the HUGE woolly ones; oh, and those other ones that jump!) so I put him outside as gently as I could without freaking out.
I pondered writing about spider spirit today and I wasn’t totally sure, but then there was another one just as I was about to sit and write a post so I figured it would be timely.
What does it mean to see Spider as a Spirit Messenger Animal Totem

- Patience (awaiting prey in their web)
- very receptive
- weaver of life’s fate
- balance between the future and the past
Spider reminds us that things are not always as they appear to be, sometimes we need to look deeper.
Spiders also remind us that we are creators and that we design our own lives. Just as spiders design their webs, so do we design our lives with our thoughts and creative powers.
I am only a little bit afraid of spiders and the ones I saw today were big but at least they had skinny legs so for me they did not symbolize fear; however if you are afraid of spiders and spider spirit animal comes to you it may be time to confront some of your fears and phobias.
I often see spiders; but what was different about this, is they usually come in the house when it is getting ready to rain. It has been dry since yesterday and is supposed to be a beautiful and dry weekend. Also, big giant spiders don’t usually end up sitting in my lap drinking coffee with me in the morning!
The pictures in this post are ones I took of the actual spiders from today. They were both very similar and about 2 inches (maybe a tiny bit bigger, not sure I didn’t take the time to measure them, they were pretty quick ha ha).

I started having dreams of spiders since I was 8 years old. I woke up seeing them in my bed every where. All of a sudden about a month ago I have about 6 at my front door and 1 at each window. I see them in the morning and at night. What does that mean. And yes I’m scared as hell of them.
