Its funny. We hear that saying often. Sometimes it rings true ~ like the time someone calls you and tells you that you have won a trip somewhere and later you find out that it is going to cost you $1500 in fees and taxes just to take it.

Or, with psychic readings, sometimes when a free reading is offered, you get the “reading”, but its vague and then you get bombarded with spam, or worse yet someone tells you that you have a curse and it will take hundreds, or sometimes thousands of dollars to remove it.

In those cases, yes, it really was too good to be true.

There is reason to be cautious sometimes, but please don’t discount everything good that is offered to you. There are tons of things out there that truly are good – and true. No strings if you don’t want them. I just went to a seminar a couple weeks ago for a timeshare. I walked away with two tickets to a Canucks game and a $50.00 Visa Gift Card. (For those of you who don’t know, the Canucks, are Vancouver, BC’s NHL Hockey Team). I must tell you that these tickets are hard to come by.

Yes, I did have to drive into the city. Yes, it did take a few hours out of my life. But, I went with my family and we went for dinner and used the Visa card to pay for it. We turned it into an adventure and enjoyed ourselves. Yes, it was a bit of a hard-sell, but there was no requirement to buy anything, and as much as the sales people really pushed their product, they were, for the most part, nice.

A lot of people who are reading this are familiar with the Law of Attraction, and of working to manifest positive things into their life. Well, I can tell you that there is nothing like the statement “too good to be true” to block positive things from manifesting. You cannot expect positive things to come into your life if you block them by not believing that good things can come your way …for absolutely no good reason except that you have asked for them and expect them to come!

This has happened, even with my psychic readings. I always try and get people in as soon as I can but the wait can vary from a few days to a few weeks. Sometimes it takes me 2-3 weeks to even answer an email. This is usually dependent on my workload ~ I do not have an assistant, I do it all myself, so there’s not usually any rhyme or reason to it ~ I get to things when I can get to them.

Back to the subject of too good to be true…every so often, just as I have had time freed up over the next couple of days for one reason or another, an email will pop right into my inbox and I will be ‘told’ that I should fit that person in, often even before I open the email. My day had been cleared up for reasons seemingly beyond my control. I think, oh, I have time for a reading, and “ding” ~ “you’ve got mail”.

I’ve actually had two people tell me over the years (two is not a lot by any means, but I sometimes wonder, if two told me, how many didn’t bother), that when I replied right away, they figured I must be some sort of a scammer or something. Because my website says I’m so busy, and that I can be slow to respond to people, they figured that everything on my website was false. A good example of ‘too good to be true’. What if the people that get the response right away are just getting really good at manifesting things? What if its not too good to be true, but a clear example of ‘I get what I need’.

Think about that next time you tell yourself that something must be too good to be true. Take a close look at it. Is it really? Or is it just that what you want is coming to you? And coming much faster than you ever imagined it could.

I do think we need to be diligent to not be taken advantage of, but with a little bit of common sense and research, that isn’t likely to happen to you anyway.

How about, next time something like this comes your way, check it out, do your due diligence, and then just be thankful. Appreciate what is offered, show gratitude and accept it. Allow the energy of allowing to flow towards you. What you focus on you create. So why not focus on good things coming and appreciating them when they do … then you will only create more good things.

I somehow got behind on my blog posts. Hard to belive its already been two weeks since I last posted. There has been a lot going on for me though, both personally and professionally ~ its all good ~ I just seem to have not had as much time for writing.

It has been absolutely beautiful weather here. For those of you who do not know, I live in Beautiful British Columbia Canada, just outside of Vancouver where they are holding the 2010 Winter Olympics. It has been mostly sunny (with a downpour here and there) and all through January we had record breaking temperatures. Trees are budding, flowers are starting, and my horse started shedding his winter coat about 4 weeks ago. Very different from last year. It feels like May already! This is wonderful for those of us who like to get outside, not so great for the Winter Olympics.

There is a lot of information in this post so keep reading…

Psychic Readings

I am going to switch things up a bit with my readings. I haven’t been taking new clients for quite a few months now and I had a long waiting list that I think I have completed now (if you feel you were missed, please e-mail me). I feel much more rested than I did last year, and am starting to find a bit more balance in my life. I think it is time to start taking new clients and connecting with more of you again. So, as of now, I am taking new clients again.

Psychic Reading Rates

As of March 15, 2010 my rates are going up. Anyone booking or e-mailing me for a reading prior to March 15 will get the old rates.

As of March 15, my new rates will be as follows:

$300 for a reading of a minimum of 60 minutes. If we go over the hour there will be no additional charge (time limit of 80 minutes).

For a half hour reading, the rate will be $150. 45 minutes will be $225.

E-mail reading rates TBA.

For those of you who have been my clients for a long time and/or who get readings more often than once per year, I am willing to work out discounts on the new rates. Please, when you e-mail me to book your reading mention that you are an existing client and your request for a discount and we will work something out.

Free Psychic Readings

For those who are subscribed to my Newsletter I will be offering a twice yearly draw for a free psychic reading. All you need to do is be actively subscribed to my newsletter and you will be entered in a draw to get a free reading. Winners will be contacted via the email on their subscription and will have one month to book a reading with me once I contact them. The reading does not have to be taken within the month, but I need a response from the winner within the month.

Psychic Kids

There has been a huge response to my post about psychic kids. I really will be writing more on how to deal with this and help your kids so if you are interested check back here for updates, and/or read the comments section of that post.

I’ve been toying with the idea of having groups here in Chilliwack to get psychic kids together so that they don’t feel so alone and to teach them how to deal with their gifts. If you are interested please let me know. I won’t do this if I do not get a decent response. I have found that people tend to say they would like to come to a meet up group and their life gets in the way and they do not make it. This doesn’t bother me personally, those that “need” to show up generally do, but when dealing with kids, I don’t want to schedule something and have a child show up and be the only one. They already have a tendency to feel alone in this world.

I think that’s all the biggest news so far this month.

With Love and Grattitude for all of you and who you are…
Tamara

We all create our own reality. Not only by what we say or do, but by what we believe.

A belief is just a thought that repeats itself over and over again. Our beliefs shape our reality more than anything else.

There have been times in my life when I have been told that I have on “rose coloured glasses” or that I am not living in reality. Well, I can tell you, for the most part, I am happy. My life is good. If my life is what I believe to be “good”, and I am happy and am able to spread love and light and abundance, what is wrong with that? If that means I’m not living in someone else’s negative view of ‘reality’ then so-be-it. I like my reality.

Would there be any point at all for me to believe that things are not as positive as I think and feel they are? That when I am challenged by something, it is a ‘bad’ experience and will ruin my life? When I have a challenge in my life, and I have had many, I chose to believe that I will get through it. I chose to believe that in some way, whether I recognize it or not at the moment, it is for my highest and best good and on some level I have created it. When I am particularly challenged, I look at ways to create something different for myself. It’s not always easy, but I know, or at least I believe, that discomfort promotes movement, and movement promotes growth. That is the way I chose to perceive my reality.

The following are some examples of ways you may talk to yourself, and in turn, shape your own reality. Which category do you find yourself going to more often, the first or the second?

1). “There’s high unemployment and there is no work out there”. If you believe this, then you will make that a reality for yourself. You will go through your days acting on that belief. You will not bother to look as hard because you believe there is no point to looking, there is no work.
2.) If you were to change the thoughts, the belief would follow. “There are jobs out there, you just have to find them”. You will go through your days acting as if the perfect job is out there for you. You will look more, you will apply more, you will find a job that resonates with you.

1). “There is no point to starting exercise unless I am prepared to do it every day” (or 3x a week or whatever you believe). You are more likely to not exercise at all because you believe there is no point and no benefit to just doing a little.
2.) “Any exercise I can get is better than doing nothing”. If that is your belief then you will get up and move a lot more. You may find you have 5-10 minutes a day, or one hour every second weekend. Once you do a little bit, if you believe it is helping, it will be helping. You will feel good about the little bit you are doing and will possibly feel like doing more, because it will feel good.

1). If you own a business. “It is hard to find good help”. You will put out an ad for staff. You will get X amount of applications. You believe that good help is hard to find, so you will hire based only on the applications sitting in front of you, whether the people fit with your company’s mission and values or not. After all, what is the point in looking any farther, ‘there’s no good help out there’.
2.) “There are many people out there that will resonate with the values of my company”. You put out an ad. You get X amount of applications. None appear to be what your company is looking for. You can either put out another ad in a different place and see who applies, or you interview people who might not have the experience who turn out to be very quick learners, are bright and share your values.

1). “There’s no point in trying, nothing ever works”. This one is pretty much a creativity killer. If you hold this belief, you are likely to never try anything new. Never let anything old go, and to feel stuck in your life.
2.) “This doesn’t feel good to me, I think I’m going to do something – anything differently”. Guaranteed, that if you change even one thing, do even one thing differently, you will see different results. If you like the results great, if you don’t, change something else.

If you want to change your life, and your reality, start by changing your beliefs. Challenge them regularly. When you find your self-talk being negative, ask yourself if it really is truth. If it really needs to be your truth.

So many of our beliefs are not even ours, but what we have been told in our lives. We are told things by our parents, our teachers, our religious leaders, our government, our media. Not everything you hear is truth. Even if it is true for some people, it is not necessarily true for everyone. It does not have to be true for you. Unless you believe it to be true and take it on as a part of your belief system.

Starting today, give yourself permission to think for yourself and create your own beliefs.

Have you noticed the change in the energy?

Starting in 2009 things got a little weird, energies got strong, then things started to change. In September, it seemed to come to a head, as if everything left us, or was in the process of leaving us. It was as if everything that was old, or not serving our Highest and Best Good was leaving. The changes were massive. The energy was difficult at times. Some of you lost things from your life that had been around for a very long time. There were a lot of souls that went so far as to actually leave the earth, and the human life they were living. It was time to let go of a lot of the things that brought us to where we were at that time.

Following the release of the things, people, and energies that came early last fall, was a sense of emptiness. I spoke to so many people that felt lost and confused and just didn’t know what to do. It felt stagnant for a lot of people. So many felt like there wasn’t much point anymore. The things they used to think were fun didn’t have the allure that they had before. There was a general feeling of ‘why bother?’. Some felt like they had lost their passion for life and fun. Many just seemed to take a time-out from life and living.

In mid-January 2010, the energies started to change again. There was a sense of movement. If, in the fall, you had successfully let go of everything that was no longer serving you, you suddenly felt this month that maybe there was something to this life after all. For some of you, it is new people coming in to your life. So many of us are feeling the need to connect with like-minded others at this time. Those that had been spending a lot of time alone are suddenly drawn to join groups, or make friends, get out there and do something.

Its like all the plans that were put on hold for months are now coming to fruition. There is a need, a drive, to move. Some are welcoming new relationships into their lives, some are getting new and different job opportunities coming their way. There’s a big opportunity for change and movement at this time. What would you like in your life? Go for it. Sometimes change involves risk, but there is no better time than right now to take that leap, explore your options, spread your wings and take advantage of all the new things presenting to you.

I am usually pretty good at being in the moment, and practicing awareness. However, the past little while has been a bit of a challenge for me. I have had tons of stuff going on and I’ve sometimes wondered how I can do it all.

My Aunt passed away on January 8th, after a very brief yet intense illness. Her and I were very close, she was my mentor, my confidant, my friend. We had a “Celebration of Life” for her on Sunday.

As I wrote a few weeks ago, my husband broke his leg in September and has been off work since. He went for surgery yesterday to have pins removed.

Tomorrow, my son has dental surgery for a growth he’s got on his gums. Likely not too serious, but they have to knock him out and a mom worries anyway.

This Friday night I am participating in a paranormal investigation. My first with a new P.A.R.A. team. Very exciting. I will let you know how it goes once all is said and done.

I’ve had tons of e-mails coming in and I’m working on booking in readings from those that are still on my waitlist.

Over the past while my horse has been slightly neglected. I say slightly because I keep him at a barn where they take awesome care of him. He’s well fed, gets put out in the morning to romp around and is brought in and kept warm and dry at night. I have been trying to get down to exercise him but its been a challenge over the past while. He grounds me, keeps me in the moment and I can’t help but Practice Awareness when I am with him but I haven’t been to the barn since Saturday. Over the last month I have only been down to the barn just enough to keep him from going crazy from lack of attention. Thinking that I absolutly must get to see him on Thursday.

So, here I was, this Tuesday morning, I was happily going along my way and getting ready for the day. I had booked four clients in today starting at 9:30 a.m. I got up early, had my workout and shower and was having a cup of coffee before taking my son to school. My husband had to leave the house and needed help with the truck. I often will help to lift things into or out of the truck with him, normally not a problem.

This particular morning I was feeling a little rushed, seeing how many emails I could answer before my appointments started. I was thinking about all the things I had to do, the things I had done, what I needed to get done later, and what I could rush through to get to where I wanted to be. A typical case of rushing around too much and not being in the moment.

So I went outside with my husband and proceeded to grab one side of a very heavy piece of equipment, and halfway through lifting it I got the most intense pain in my back. Ouch. I could hardly move. I hobbled into the house and tried to stretch it out a bit but it didn’t work. I then popped a couple of Robax Platinum’s hoping that that would help to relax the muscle.

Suffice to say, I ended up cancelling my readings for the day…I couldn’t even get down the stairs to where I do readings, never mind actually sit with someone without wincing or groaning.

I said to my husband “I wonder if someone is trying to tell me something?” I must say, I know we create our own “stuff” ~ good and bad. He pointed out that normally when I am going to lift something like that I stretch and bend and make a big production of limbering up beforehand and today I didn’t.

I’m a thinker, always looking for a higher meaning to things. I considered that my higher self didn’t want me to be doing readings today, or that I was meant to be doing something else with my day.

When it comes right down to it though, its just AWARENESS. I got too much into my head, and autopilot, and rushing to get things done and didn’t take the time to get ready and lift properly. That’s it. Not divine intervention, not a curse, not anything, just ME.

A great reminder for me to be in the moment and Practice My Awareness.

Are you are feeling stuck in any part of your life? Could it be because you aren’t following what you want to do?

Could it be that if you actually did what you wanted, you would be afraid about how those around you would react? How much of what you are doing or not doing in your life right now is based on what you perceive you should be doing because of what others might think or believe, or from fear of judgement? How much of what you are doing is because it is what you want for yourself?

This may be applied to all aspects of life.

I’ve been told many times in my life, you can’t say that, do that, write that, from people around me, close to me, and from myself. That little voice inside my head that says “be careful what you say or do”, you don’t want to offend anyone, or hurt anyone’s feelings or even be the brunt of someone’s disapproval

There (hopefully), comes a time in your life where you make the decision to just go for it. This does not have to be at the expense of others. Most of us do have some responsibilities; to our families, our friends, our work. However, our responsibilities do not have to always deter us from doing what we want. We just don’t always need approval from someone else.

How many times do you end up doing nothing, because there are things you want to do, but feel you shouldn’t do, and then the list of ‘should do’s’ takes over, and you do nothing, simply because you feel too guilty to do what you want, and are not inspired to do what you think you should. “Oh, I can’t do that, I should do this”. Then….nothing – you take no action.

That leads to a rather uninspired life. What if, just once in a while, you decided to just do and be what you wanted? No worries about judgements, no worries about someone else thinking you are selfish.

I need to be really clear that this does not involve self-defeating behaviours, as in going out and partying with friends rather than being with your kids. You still have responsibilities but you can still do what you want to do within your relationships, your family, your employment, your life – that inner voice thing – listen to it and act on it.

It can be very hard to lose someone you are close to. Whether they become sick, or they pass suddenly, it can be a shock to us.

It is even harder for those that do not know that our existence here on earth is just a very small part of who we really are. We are all born to earth with our own reasons for being here. Sometimes we consciously know the reason we are here, more often than not we are not aware of it until after our passing.

When you have lost, or are in the process of losing someone you love, please allow yourself to grieve, and allow yourself to be sad. Grieve for yourself though. Not necessarily for your loved one. Your loved one is fine. Your loved one is not losing anything. Your loved is going home to be in and of the light again. They have nothing to worry about.

It is those of us left behind that are losing something. We feel the loss and separation from the person who has left us. They don’t feel the separation, we do. When they go home to the light they are more connected than they ever could have been while in the earth energy.

Do not think of what they did not have the chance to do in this lifetime. No matter what their age, if they are going home, they are done here. They have completed what they came here to do, and can now go home, knowing that they succeeded with what they came here for. They can see us here, they can join us for family events if they want to, they are not ‘missing’ anything.

There are many souls that decided to come to earth during this time of change. Just as they have come to earth during other times of big shifts and change on the earth. A lot of these souls are now done here. The change has occurred, there has been a massive shift in the collective consciousness over the past 10 years. There are many wonderful, loving souls that came here to assist with that. They are done. They now get to go home. You WILL see them again.

So do not grieve for them. Do not feel sad for them. Allow yourself to grieve for yourself, feel sad for your own loss, to say good-bye. Tears can be cleansing. Just remember to be sad for the loss of the love and friendship you had with your loved one, for the space they occupied in your life. Fill that space with love; use prayer, meditation, whatever it takes to help yourself get through the loss. Just do not grieve for where they are now, because now they are home.

With love and gratitude for the space you all have in my life.

Most people on New Year’s are looking forward and making plans on what they would like to do in the coming year. Sometimes this involves looking back and thinking of all that didn’t get done last year.

Beginning this year, look at this process from a different perspective.

Everything you have done up to this point of your life has brought you right here, right where you are now. You are right where you need to be.

For this year, on New Year’s Eve, rather than only think about what you want to do and what you didn’t manage to get to last year, take a few minutes to write yourself a list of everything that you have accomplished this past year and how full your year has been. Include everything that you have done and enjoyed, reading a book, spending time with family, travel, quiet contemplation…list everything. Be thankful for it.

See how far you have come. Even if you haven’t reached your goals yet, see what has transpired to get you closer to what it is you want. Recognize the work you have done.

Resolutions can come after. First, bask in the knowledge that you have progressed, and that you will continue to progress. You can do it. Live the life you want, and enjoy.

I have a few things that I would call my “favourites”. My favourite things even change on occasion depending what I might be feeling or going through at any given time.

I must say though, that one of my favourite songs is “Get Together” by the Youngbloods. (I realize they were not the original artists, however, their version was the biggest hit).

YOUNGBLOODS – GET TOGETHER

Love is but the song we sing,
And fear’s the way we die
You can make the mountains ring
Or make the angels cry
Know the bird is on the wing
And you may not know why
C’mon people now,
Smile on your brother
Ev’rybody get together
Try and love one another right now
Some will come and some will go
We shall surely pass
When the one that left us here
Returns for us at last
We are but a moments sunlight
Fading in the grass
C’mon people now,
Smile on your brother
Ev’rybody get together
Try and love one another right now
If you hear the song I sing,
You must understand
You hold the key to love and fear
All in your trembling hand
Just one key unlocks them both
It’s there at your command
C’mon people now,
Smile on your brother
Ev’rybody get together
Try and love one another right now
Right now
Right now

I get a lot of e-mail from people who are asking for advice because their child sees ghosts.

Some parents are very afraid of this, and some are just more curious and want to have a better understanding of it so that they can help their child through it.

I think one of the most important things you can do as a parent is to remain calm. Accept the fact that ghosts and spirits exist. Do not tell your child that it is their imagination, or to just pretend they aren’t there. That simply doesn’t help. It would be like telling your child that the grass is not growing in your front yard when clearly they can see that it is!

It is helpful to know that there is a difference between a ghost and a spirit. A ghost is a person that has died, but has not necessarily crossed over. The best thing to do is to remember a ghost is JUST A PERSON. Just like you and me. They just happen to not have their physical bodies anymore. There are very few ‘evil’ ghosts around, just as there are very few truly ‘evil’ people. I am not saying there is no such thing as a nasty ghost, it’s just that they are very rare.

A spirit is a being on the “other side” and they generally come to this dimension to visit, to help, or just to be here ~ as in loved ones who have crossed over, spirit guides, Ascended Masters, etc.

A very important thing to understand is that neither ghosts nor spirits will hurt you. I know with my son, he see’s his “spirit friends” (these are his words, not mine), as lights. He sees purple lights, blue lights pink lights, all as orbs in his dark bedroom.

My son also sees the actual ghosts that live in our house with us. We live in a house that was built in 1896, so we have quite a few ghosts here.

For the most part ghosts and spirits are harmless…what you see on TV and in the movies is meant to scare people and sensationalize things. Even shows ‘based on real events’ are so distorted, it is amusing to those of us that really know what it is like to be able to see such things.

Sometimes ghosts can look pretty scary. If a physical body went through some trauma, we may see the ghost in that state. There is a fellow in our house with no head. He has shared that he was in a war, but doesn’t know exactly where his head is. It can be disturbing to see him sometimes with no head, but that doesn’t make him evil or dangerous.

Another thing that can make ghosts/spirits seem scary is that we often see them almost as if though a ‘fog’. I hope I can explain this part properly, but basically, they don’t have a body anymore. They are just their energy now. What we see is the energy of the person that was. There is no longer a physical body. It’s as if they are in a different dimension than us and when we look across the dimensions, sometimes the view is quite different than what we see in the 3rd dimension in which we live.

You could compare it to being in a dark room and putting a flashlight under your chin. Your face looks scary with that view, but it is just the way you are seeing it, not the way it is.

The scariest part for most parents that do not see the ghosts or spirits is the ‘unknown’ part. “What is my poor child seeing/going through”.

I have asked the ghosts that I have here in my house not to startle me. I certainly don’t mind co-habiting with them, but I really don’t want to be having the life scared out of me all the time.

Anyone can talk to ghosts, including parents who do not see or hear them. Just because you can’t see them, doesn’t mean they aren’t there. It can be done with telepathy. You don’t have to say it out loud, although you can if you prefer. Just thinking it in your head will do the trick though. It really is that easy. Try just saying “I don’t mind you being here, but I need you to be more subtle, you scare me sometimes”.
Remember, ghosts are people, dead people maybe, but still people.

Talking to people generally works as far as resolving issues around boundaries and space One of the biggest issues when our children are seeing ghosts is that parents are afraid, or they don’t understand that, as mediums, we have control over our ’sight’. Assure your son or daughter that there is nothing wrong in what they see. You really need to empower him or her and let your child know that the ghosts will not hurt them. You also need to reassure your child that HE OR SHE HAS complete CONTROL over their gift.

Just assure your child that they can control their gift and their own space. Let your child speak about their ‘sightings’ and keep your own feelings in check.

I used to see ghosts and spirits in front of my eyes like I would see you if we met. I rarely see them this way now. I basically told them that they were not allowed to appear like that to me and scare me. I told them that I would ignore them completely if I found myself being ’startled’ by people appearing in front of me all the time.

I have asked the ghosts and the spirits to not startle me and to please be more subtle. Now when I do readings, or if I ‘see’ or ‘talk to’ a ghost or spirit, they come to me more ‘in my head’ ~ if I close my eyes I can ’see’ them better than with my “regular 3rd dimension vision”. I got rather tired of stepping out of the shower and having someone standing in my bathroom!

Ghosts and spirits are everywhere by the way. Houses, malls, schools, parks, everywhere. The area around my son’s school is particularly “active”. He will see ghosts or spirits in the sports field, or in his classroom.

One day I was walking down the street beside his school and there were ghosts also walking down the street where I was. I paid no more (or less) attention to them than I would anyone else. Smile, nod, keep walking.

Part of the trick of living with this gift is knowing where to put your attention. Just as we can be in a crowded shopping mall and hardly notice the people around us, we can also be in a crowded “ghost zone” (for lack of a better way to put it), and just ignore them.

Even with my son — generally he sees even way more than I do. We just asked the spirits and ghosts to back off and not to bother him. His room was always full at night or I’d be sitting at my desk and he’d see a woman standing behind me, or there’d be spirit kids waking him up at night wanting to play…stuff like that.

We just asked that they please leave him alone for now, he’s too young to have to deal with it etc. Now he doesn’t see them as much and they don’t annoy him when he’s trying to sleep. You don’t need to be a medium, or an ‘expert’ to do this. Just ask them! They will generally respect your wishes.

This truly does work. I mentioned this before, but its worth repeating, they aren’t that different than you and I, they just don’t have bodies anymore.
